The Hills are Alive

The competitors are awesome, the setting is stunning and the fun is limitless! And, one of the perks is that it's FREE to go and watch.

250 world class athletes; 39 of which are past or present Olympians will be there to compete and impress us with their skills and ability to party. This isn't just any group of athletes; this bunch of pros are approachable, friendly and more than willing to mix with the crowd.

Some of the faces you'll see include Shaun White , a 9 time Winter X Games gold medalist and 2006 Winter Olympic gold medalist. Gretchen Bleiler, a 3 time Winter X Games snowboarding SuperPipe gold medalist and 2006 Olympic silver medalist will entertain all of us. Simon Dumont, who has the current world QuarterPipe record, will be there too. Simon launched 35.5 feet out of a 38 foot QuarterPipe to win this honor. Sarah Burke, a four time Winter X Games skiing SuperPipe medalist will be competing. Sarah is also a pioneer for women in the skiing industry. The Winter X Games competitions don't end with skiing and snowboarding - don't forget about snowmobiling. Levi LaVallee attempted a double back flip on his snowmobile in the 2009 Winter X Games. Officially he didn't complete the trick but I was there and would have given it to him - it was amazing. No one knows exactly what new tricks the athletes will be pulling out this year. Be there and find out! Come and mingle with athletes you will see next month on TV in the Olympic Games.

Events include: Skiing and snowboarding SuperPipe where athletes shoot out of the massive 22 foot pipe to complete tricks. The higher and more technical, the better. Skiing and snowboarding Slopestyle where judges determine the winner based on the degree of difficulty and execution of each trick. Skiier X and snowboarder X, a free-for-all. Skiing and snowboarding Big Air...just as it sounds. Snowmobiling Freestyle and Best Trick.

The Winter X Games are about so much more than the athletes and the competition. They're about fun, entertainment, friends, freebies and a phenomenal party at the base of Buttermilk Mountain. While you're there, take advantage of the snowskate park, sample some of the free give-a-ways, enjoy the live DJ and the Zipfy Freestyle Mini Luge (where you can challenge your friends, head to head). The games showcase the culture and lifestyle of winter sports with a touch of class that can't be beat. After all, you're in Aspen, right? So...join us for the time of your life and enjoy it all; the scenery, the people, the fresh air and remember it's as free as the air you breathe!

January 28 through 31, Aspen, CO will host the 2010 X Games 14.
