In June 2019, Al Biernat’s Oak Lawn can finally go out and legally order a cocktail.
The iconic and beloved gayborhood-adjacent steakhouse recently celebrated turning 20 with a facelift and a brand-new bar. And if you’ve been to the restaurant before the update, you’ll notice a wonderful difference. If you’ve never been, there’s no time like the here and now.
We recently got invited by a friend to dinner there and they pulled out all the stops. Premium Osetra caviar with chilled vodka. Tempura prawns. Ahi tuna sashimi. Lump crab cakes. And Oysters Rockefeller.
And that was merely our starters!
We moved on from there to devour 30,000 calories worth of Wagyu Angus steak, salads, veggies, Lobster Thermidor and an insane number of desserts (still dreaming of their famous coconut cream pie). Not a single dish disappointed. Except maybe that there weren’t 187 fried shrimp on the prawn appetizer.
Service was impeccable even though we were there during one of the busiest times on a Friday night.
