A six-pack hiding beneath a shirt. A little random hair here and there. And so many unique aromas.
Funny how traits we love in men rarely translate to hotel rooms.
As frequent visitors to New Orleans, we’ve experienced more than our fair share of cringe-worthy hotel rooms. Even at decent brands. (We personally blame the phenomenon of eight people cramming into double rooms for bachelorette party weekends, but we have zero proof to support that claim.)
Yet Windsor Court Hotel remains a singular hotel property that always manages to exceed our expectations. The first time we stayed, our rooms were complimentary in exchange for potential press coverage, but the experience was superb enough to keep us coming back for more—on our own dime (or one very large duffel bag full of them).
Perhaps it’s because Windsor Court has bragging rights as the only four-star, four-diamond property in the city, and we’re your typical four-star, four-diamond kind of queens.
Rooms are posh, but it’s the service that brings us back for more. Especially when we splurge on a club level room with access to a lounge serving up tasty treats—and lots of booze—from morning to night. We always meet crazy-fun new friends over bottles of wine in that space, too, and have even skipped a night out on the town in favor of hanging out there. Better still, club level rooms aren’t that much more expensive.
The property is tucked away on the other side of Canal Street from the French Quarter, yet even though it’s across the way from Harrah’s Casino, it feels miles away from any kind of hustle and bustle. Nearly everything you’d want to do can be accessed by a short walk or cheap Uber or Lyft.
So if you want to revel in any upcoming holidays shenanigans, don’t feel like you’ll be too far from the action. Halloween will always be one of our favorite times in the Big Easy, Boo, but we also adore New Year’s Eve by the Mississippi. Of course, we’d celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas in the Quarter in a heartbeat.
If you can pry us away from the open bar in the club lounge, that is.
