Put Some Gay In Your Day, Dallas!

Movies don’t get much gayer than Steel Magnolias.

It’s one of those deliciously quotable, laugh-through-tears classics that we can watch from any point in the film if we come across it on TV.

Of course, we haven’t seen it on the big screen since its initial release in 1989 and that, dear friends, could be one of the biggest tragedies of our life so far. (Well, that and accidentally shaving off an eyebrow because we forgot to put the guard on the clippers.)

But this Friday, CinéWilde brings the larger-than-life characters back to the giant auditorium at The Texas Theatre where it belongs. Catch Dolly, Sally, Shirley, Daryl, Olympia and Julia one more time as a companion piece to Dallas Theater Center’s current production.

Speaking of which, director Joel Ferrell will give a pre-film talk about the play and what to expect from his version of the southern-fried dramedy.

After the final credits roll, join the CinéWilde team and fellow moviegoers for the official Steel Magnolias afterparty at the bar where you can get those quotes out of your system one last time while sipping on a Louisiana-inspired cocktail or two.

Here’s hoping at least one of them features orange juice served in a hospital cup.
