That woman on the stage has a really big secret.
No, not that she’s got a sausage under her support hose. It’s that Don’t Tell Supper Club downtown hosts a drag brunch every other Sunday and it’s time to help spread the word.
Even though it launched last year, we know several gays who still haven’t heard the good news. So we were invited to our first Not Your Mama’s Drag Brunch this past Sunday to stick our fork in some eggs, wrap our lips around some mimosas, and stick dollar bills into some corsets.
We were definitely not disappointed.
Each drag brunch becomes an all-afternoon party, thanks to the immensely talented Jenni P (pictured, second from right) bantering with the crowd, which features gaggles of gays.
Joined onstage by the gorgeous Krystal Summers (pictured, second from left) and a rotating roster of guest-star queens, Jenni brings the belly laughs from first muffin to last slurp of champagne.
We’ve been to our fair share of drag brunches all over the country and typically, the food exists simply as a crude method of soaking up all the cheap sparkling wine. Nothing could be further from that at Don’t Tell Supper Club where everything that came across our table was hot, fresh and creatively presented (Get the spicy chicken chilaquiles if you like cock.) We’d order everything again, from the chicken and waffles to the ultra-filling brunch poutine.
Brunch costs $35 per person and includes a basket of pastries to begin, your choice of entrée and one house mimosa. Not too shabby for a show that lasts a few hours.
Now let’s forget the name of the club for just a moment because it’s time to get together all your friends and…
