Looking at the lineup these days, television is broken down pretty much into three categories: superhero shows, game shows and the NCIS franchise.
Many of the latest productions from the Marvel and DC universes have failed to live up to expectations, but we’re super excited about the latest from gay TV writer/creator/producer Greg Berlanti (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow).
It’s Black Lightning from DC Comics, premiering Tuesday, January 16 on The CW.
A mixture of family drama and life as a superhero, the series follows Jefferson Pierce who retired his tights long ago. But he’s called back to action and with new priorities beyond simply protecting the streets, he reluctantly adopts the Black Lightning persona once again.
Gritty, funny and filled with great effects, it represents exactly the kind of justice we crave right now.
Not to mention the abs, pecs and biceps we crave, too.
Premieres Tuesday, January 16
