Germanic Verses

What could’ve been?

That simple question can be one of the most devastating one we ever ask ourselves. What would our life be like if we’d met someone different? Moved to a different city? Traveled more while we were young?

But the what if surround a lost love can be the most devastating of all. That’s a central theme in the newly released German film, Jonathan, about a (hot, hunky, handsome) 23-year-old who’s working on the family farm while taking care of his dying father. When his dad’s long-lost boyfriend shows up, however, everything changes and the family must cope with new and old realities, as well as the fragility of life.

Beautifully acted and subtly paced, the film brings a combination of emotions that brought up all sorts of questions about our own past.

And future.
