It’s almost the Year of the Cock!
(That’s our favorite year on the Chinese zodiac calendar, as if you couldn’t guess.)
Sure, that New Year’s celebration doesn’t kick off until January 28, but there’s a feast of Asian delights and decadent diversions in store December 31 as Chino Chinatown presents one epic end-of-year party at Trinity Groves: Drag & Dragons.
Skip the crazy crowds and join us as we say goodbye to one crazy year while ringing in one that’s sure to be a whole helluva lot crazier. Jada Pinkett Fox (pictured at top) hosts the progressive drag show along with her favorite sisters, G’Licious G (pictured in front of the stained glass window) and Raquel Blake (the only other queen on this page, duh).
The show starts at 10:00 p.m. with performances leading up to midnight and beyond. There’s no cover charge, either. Simply make a reservation, order off the special small bites menu and celebrate with friends and loved ones until you see twice as many of them. (That’s your signal to call Uber.)
Everyone gets a champagne toast at midnight and there will be Equality Vodka specials all night long. Plus, owner Chef Uno will be donating 100 percent of proceeds from a lucky fortune cookie raffle to the Human Rights Campaign, as well as 20 percent of all Equality Vodka drink sales.
Make table reservations as soon as possible. But you can also show up night-of for standing-room at the bar or at one of the patio tables set aside for walk-ins.
So, come in full drag. Wear a wig. Put on a tux and high heels. Or just stick a party horn somewhere and call it a night.
A good, good night.
