Does wanting to stay home on a Friday night and watch modern dance on PBS make us officially old?
(Be as bitchy as you want in your response, we can’t hear you.)
We know we’re not alone, though. It’s been a long week of parties, work and screaming at political coverage. So we simply want to curl up with some popcorn, pizza, margaritas and double-fudge brownies to watch some of the fittest people on the planet contort their bodies into beautiful positions.
It all unfolds in Lincoln Center at the Movies: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, part of the PBS Fall Festival.
We know there are purists out there who insist on experiencing modern dance performances live, but we actually prefer watching it on TV because you get a much more intimate look at the dancers’ athleticism and grace. And, yes, a better view of those wonderful tights.
That’s why 60” televisions were invented.
