Two decades is a long time to be in a rut.
But we realize that over 20 years of visits to the Los Angeles area, we found ourselves staying exclusively in West Hollywood. Mostly because we simply can’t get enough of our fellow gays!
So this past November we decided to stop taking day trips to the Pacific Ocean in favor of establishing a home base within steps of the sandy, palm-tree lined beaches of Santa Monica and its world-famous pier. And wouldn’t you know, there were gays there, too!
Yet there’s so much more to love about Shore Hotel than its proximity to the beach, LGBT appeal and gorgeous ocean view rooms (not to mention the rooms with ocean view showers!)That’s because Shore Hotel is an eco-conscious hotel with LEED Gold certification. Some of the earth-friendly features include sustainably sourced decor, low-flow water fixtures, native landscaping throughout the property, and plenty of natural lighting to reduce energy consumption during daylight hours.
Plus, every room includes a private balcony or patio, many of which are ideal for catching the sunset each afternoon.
We recommend heading to the end of the Santa Monica Pier instead, where live musicians typically provide a soundtrack for the majestic sight of that fiery orb merging with the deep blue horizon.
Or watch the sunset from the jacuzzi or solar-heated pool, where you can enjoy the light show with a tropical cocktail.
Because viewing nature is always better while sucking something cold through a straw.
